We were thiiiiiiiis close to a practical, long lasting, easy (by Japanese Mid engine car standards) to maintain Testarossa clone. I'm glad the NSX happened because if it didn't and this didn't take it's place...man, you and I wouldn't be friends anymore, Japan.

That looks fucking incredible.

This is the exact question that keeps me up at night. It's the Cuban Missile Crisis of Japanese Automobiles.

Also, the 1987 version looks even better:
Though the rear is sort of 90s-tastic.

My only worry is this, the 300ZX's twin turbo engine bay is a nightmare to work on. I can't imagine mounting it horizontally and behind those sloping c-pillars would improve things.

Wait, so a Japanese Fiero?

Why not a Fiero GT?
Or an MR2?

R32 Skyline rims on that MR-2! So nice!

That is an awesome-looking car I've never heard of before.
That's really too bad that they never made it. Was it supposed to be a reasonably priced sports car like the MR2 or something more along the lines of the NSX?
If it was supposed to be an MR2 competitor... ugh that makes me even sadder. I can tell that this exudes sweetness.

Looks more like a Berlinetta Boxer than a Testarossa to me.

Extra points for it not being a T-top.

Probably would have had a VQ in it. Sounds pretty delicious actually

Nope, this a pic of the engine, it's a VG30 non-turbo motor. Although the MID4 II has the twin-turbo engine.
